Optional accidental damage cover
You can add an extension to your buildings insurance for other types of accidental damage cover not automatically included. For example, putting your foot through the ceiling whilst in the loft, or banging a nail through a pipe.
Buildings policy excess
The excess is the first amount of the claim that you must pay. The standard buildings excess is £50 (£1,000 for subsidence, landslip or ground heave). Premium discounts are available if you wish to increase the excess amount.
Buildings insurance covers your privately owned home, its permanent fixtures and fittings and interior decorations, outbuildings, paths, drives, ponds, tennis courts, swimming pools, walls, gates, fences, hedges and garages.

What we don’t cover

no cover is provided for maintenance or anything that happens gradually if you leave your home unoccupied for more than 60 consecutive days, let it to anyone or use your home, contents or personal belongings for trade, professional or business purposes, some covers will be restricted and some will not apply
Posting overseas?
Don’t worry. If your family remains at home no action is needed as full cover will remain in force. If you decide to let your home, we can continue your cover subject to satisfactory details and insurer’s acceptance. If your home becomes unoccupied for extended periods certain exclusions and conditions may apply.
